Doctoral Psychology Practicum Students
Counseling/Clinical Psychology Practicum Students
The Latrobe Family Medicine Residency Program welcomes doctoral level practicum
students. There are a variety of opportunities available for learning
about integrated health care. Each student will meet with the Director
of Behavioral Sciences to develop a learning plan consistent with individual
career goals. It is highly recommended that students commit to a minimum of
two semesters of training to maximize learning opportunities and for continuity of care.
Some of these opportunities include:
- Individual therapy within the family medicine outpatient office
- Teaching family medicine residents about psychological components of patient care
- Providing supervision to family medicine residents after reviewing recorded
patient encounters
- Providing group support to address resident wellness
- Integrated care with family medicine physicians, residents, and other members
of the team
- Psychopharmacology training with a psychiatrist
- Bariatric assessments
- Outreach opportunities
- Consultation with all members of the medical community
- Interviewing medical students as applicants for family medicine residency
- Residency curriculum planning (behavioral health training, community medicine,
diversity)
- Collaboration with other practicum students and doctoral level interns
Interested students should send a letter of interest, CV, and three references
