Community Wellness

The role of community relations at Independence Health System (IHS) is to represent the health system in the community. IHS gauges community need through methods such as community-wide surveys. To see the results of the most recent Community Health Needs Assessment, click here. Community Relations also works hand in hand with local organizations and chambers to provide the most up-to- date information on new services and facilities available to the community.

Encompassing Community Needs

Independence Health System offers classes, events, seminars, health talks and support groups designed to help people in local communities keep up-to-date on advances in medicine and to have a better understanding of health and wellness. IHS events are educational, but better yet, they can be fun.

Community Event Sponsorship Request Form

Health care means more than just the physical treatment of patients within the walls of IHS hospitals. It means supporting the community with information and services.

All requests, with appropriate supporting information, for financial and in-kind contributions from the organization should be submitted to IHS’s Community Relations Department at least three months before the contribution is required.

For sponsorship consideration, requests must fit within the mission, vision, values and strategic plan of Independence Health System.

Health Care Equity

Our hospitals are committed to ensuring that every patient receives the necessary follow-up care and support. For individuals who enter our facilities without an established medical home or primary care provider, we have implemented structured procedures to assist them in securing appropriate ongoing care. This approach promotes continuity of care and supports patients in achieving and maintaining a healthier lifestyle. Additional resources to support a health journey can be found on the Lifestyle Coaching page or patients can reach out to our Care Center for more information.
