Listed below is a sampling of the nursing opportunities in various departments at Independence Health System.

The Heart Program (ICU, Cath Lab, Heart Center, PCU, SDU)

Performs specialized functions related to cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology procedures. Assists with radiology, nuclear medicine and stress echocardiology procedures that require a nursing component.

Orthopedics (Inpatient and Rehab)

This unit focuses on Orthopedic Joint Replacement specializing in shoulder, hip, and knee replacement. The nursing staff is an integral part of the joint replacement programs which guides our patients through pre-operative preparation to admission, surgery and follow-up with excellent continuity of care.

Medical/Surgical (stroke, neurologic, surgical, etc.)

A Med/Surg nurse provides care for a variety of patients from care before and after surgery and medical procedures to general medical problems.

Psychiatric/Behavioral Health (inpatient and outpatient – adults and children)

Plans, organizes and conducts therapeutic interventions for assigned caseload in inpatient or outpatient environment. Emphasizes short term cognitive/behavioral approaches to effect social/emotional adjustment or address behavioral disorders; provides emergency behavioral health services to adults and/or children.

Women's Health

The RN assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the care for the patient.

Emergency Departments

Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the care for a designated group of patients. Coordinates, directs and actively participates as an effective member of the interdisciplinary health care team, contributing to the efficient operation of the unit and promoting positive patient outcomes.

Home Health

The RN assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the care for a designated group of patients in their home. The RN coordinates, directs and promotes positive patient outcomes, and contributes to efficient agency operation.

Hospice

The RN assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the care for a designated group of patients in their home. In addition, the Hospice RN provides palliative care and support to terminally ill patients and their families.
